Our story
Back to
basics.
I've spent my whole working life in construction. When you do that long enough, picking up and holding awkward things stops being something you think about. Your hands just know what to do.
When I got into grip training, what struck me was how samey everything was. Handles, grippers, blocks, all of it the same shape every time, so your hands know exactly what's coming. That's not how grip works anywhere else in life.
Stones are different. They're lumpy, uneven and awkward, and no two sit in the hand the same way. But even a good stone gets familiar after a few months.
So I worked out a way to fit a lifting eye, so I could add weight to my favourite stones. That's when I thought, why isn't everyone doing this? I spent months getting it right and making changes, until I got to where I am now. After making changes and perfecting the process, I was ready to show the world what they didn't know they wanted.
Elite grip athletes, climbers, functional fitness athletes, everyday gym goers and complete beginners can all grip the same stone and use completely different weights. Nobody has ever said their grip is too strong. Grip is our contact with the world.
Think of it like barefoot shoes. They didn't make feet stronger by adding more padding, they woke them up by letting them feel the ground again. Gripping real stones is the same idea for your hands and fingers. We want Raw Grip to be a movement that wakes them up.
Grip strength is one of the best markers we have for a long, healthy life. At our core we're civilised apes, with hands and shoulders built to hang, swing, climb and carry, and most of us barely do any of it any more.
This is my passion, and I treat every stone like it's the first one I ever made. The odder the shape, the better the grip. It's that simple.
People have been lifting stones for as long as there have been people. So when was the last time you lifted one?
Start to move more, play and swing. Movement is the best medicine we have, and one of the best forms of prevention too.
Thanks for reading my story.
